Looks like my first prenatal visit came a little earlier than expected. On Sunday night my leg started bothering me. Of course, me being me, got totally paranoid. I called my insurance company's "on call" service, which told me that I should see my OB. So I call on Monday, and being the awesome doc that he is, he tells me to come in right away. I wake up Mariah, we sit in traffic, we wait in the waiting room, we wait in the doctor's office, and finally we are seen. Doc right away tells me not to worry, that this type of vein thing is not the vein thing that can kill you. Hence the term Superficial Thrombophlebitis. However, he tells me according to law I need to undergo a type of xray to ensure there are no problems. I thank him profusely, and he takes Mariah and gives her candy... therefore securing his place as her favorite person! The nurse calls the testing center (also located in the hospital) and they say they can see me right away... great! Mariah and I walk and walk and walk until we get there only to enter the following situation.
Receptionist: Do you have an appt?
Me: No, but my doctor just talked to you 30 seconds ago.
R: Did he know your daughter was with you?
Me: (thinking) She did just tear up his office for an hour!
R: Cause she can't go in with you.
Me: Ok, what should I do.
R: Hold on.... (she calls her supervisor) My supervisor says you can't take the baby with you and she can't watch her and neither can I.
Me: (completely dumfounded) OK, so what should I do?
R: Here, (hands me phone) call your doctor.
Me: (on the phone with doc and explain situation... he says schedule an appt for tomorrow...DUH?!?!?!?!?) OK, I'd like to schedule an appt for tomorrow.
R: Ok, (hands me phone) you can call this number, we don't make appts in the office.
Me: (thinking) ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Either way, I do have an appt in the morning, and will be sure to drop Mariah off at preschool beforehand :)
